Nothing Mom

(Submitted by my mom)
When our children were young, I was very fortunate to be a SAHM (stay-at-home-mom). I took pride in that role and did my best to take care of my home and family. Crystal and Courtney’s  speech was delayed due to reoccurring ear infections. Maybe I should say continual ear infections for the first two years of their lives. By age four (and 18 months of speech therapy) they were much easier to understand.
On one crisp fall day I performed as a “Super Mom”! I had cleaned the house, cared for the children, made a nourishing home cooked breakfast and lunch, baked pies and was preparing a delicious dinner for house guests that would soon be arriving. At that moment one of my twins, Crystal (you may know her as twinwithtwins blogger Crystal Bryan) came twirling into the kitchen dressed in pink leotard and tutu. She said, “Mom, when I grow up I want to be a ballerina.” I responded absentmindedly, “Oh that will be wonderful Honey.” She then replied matter-of-factly, “Ya, I don’t want to be a ‘Nothing Mom’ like you!”
